About NASCSA

The National Association of State Controlled Substances Authorities is a 501(C)(3) non-profit educational organization established in 1985. NASCSA’s primary purpose is to provide a continuing mechanism through which state and federal agencies, as well as others can work to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of state and national efforts to prevent and control drug diversion and abuse, and to provide an educational forum to further this purpose. NASCSA members support and endorse laws, rules, and regulations to ensure that controlled substances are accessible to those persons who have a legitimate medical need. NASCSA has worked cooperatively with a number of organizations including the US Drug Enforcement Administration, US Food and Drug Administration, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Alliance for Model State Drug Laws, state professional licensing boards, pharmaceutical companies, and other national associations.
